The Virtual Lance Burner (VLB) and new Tiltable Virtual Lance Burner (Tiltable VLB) are proven to offer the highest availability and runs on both gas or oil. Over the past 10 years, the design has continuously been improved with the input of the users, to make them more user-friendly, easier to handle and much easier to maintain. By developing a "pipe-in-pipe" system, and using union nuts, the BSE VLB has less wear and less spare parts, metallic sealing for higher temperatures and backfiring devices, and very high availability.
Utilized at their own steel plant (BSW), total delay times caused by VLB in 2009 for both 110T/hr furnaces resulted in 21.3 hr which corresponds to an availability of 99.86 %.
