With a background as the industry leader in providing custom gears and replacement gearing for demanding applications, Xtek can manufacture gearboxes to meet or exceed the original design specifications.
Xtek manufacturing capabilities:
- Full complement of gear cutting machine tools through 220" diameter
- In house custom gear carburizing and hardening, through hardening
- Gear grinding to AGMA 12 specifications
- Up to 100,000 pound crane capacity
Mill Pinion Stand
Xtek produces the highest quality mill pinion sets available and manufactures these pinions up to AGMA 12. We employ both through hardened (4140/4340 steels, up to 400 BHN) and carburized and hardened materials, selected to best suit the application and transmit the required loads.
Xtek pinions are manufactured on state-of-the art machining and heat treat equipment. These mill pinions are run tested to ensure proper tooth contact and smooth operation in your mill.
Crane Gearbox
Cranes gearboxes are an excellent application for Xtek carburized and hardened gearing. Xtek gearing provides additional load capability in your existing gearbox housing through improvements in the gear metallurgy and quality. Our design and manufacturing approach will increase the strength and durability of your crane gearing, thereby increasing the service capability of your crane.

Xtek is a manufacturer of custom machined and heat-treated parts and component assemblies for heavy-duty industrial applications. They provide engineering and metallurgical expertise to solve the toughest power transmission and material handling equipment problems faced by our customers in steel mills, aluminum mills, shipyards, utility plants, and other industries throughout the world.
Since 1909, they've built a reputation by improving the metallurgical properties of steel, and therefore the quality and durability of the parts they manufacture. XTEK engineers developed the Tool Steel Process (TSP), a special heat-treating process that significantly improves the strength and durability of machined components. XTEK uses this TSP process, and other forms of heat treatment, to produce critical components such as brake wheels, track or crane wheels, overhead crane parts, and sheave wheels; gear couplings and u-joints; mill gearing and mill pinions and custom gears; pinch rolls, forged work rolls and other special purpose processing rolls.
